Preparing for an Emergency
Oklahoma has faced a diverse range of emergencies as a state. The City of Bixby under FEMA direction recommends it’s citizens begin preparing for emergency situation now.

Nixle Alert System
The City of Bixby is proud to be utilizing Nixle as our Community Information Service. Nixle and the City of Bixby is dedicated to helping you stay connected to the information that matters most to you, depending on your physical location. You stay connected to your local police department, your children’s schools, your local community agencies and organizations, and the important information from other locations throughout the country that are relevant to you.

Outdoor Warning System
The City of Bixby has installed several new storm sirens to our existing system for a total of 15 sirens that are placed throughout the city. The sirens are computer controlled and radio activated.

Storm Shelter Registry (PDF)
The City of Bixby's Office of Emergency Management has initiated a Severe Weather Shelter Registration Program. This free, voluntary program allows residents who own a personal severe weather shelter in the Bixby city limits to register their shelter with the Office of Emergency Management.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, search and rescue, disaster psychology, and response team organization.
